Me 2019.jpg

Thank you for materialising onto my blog

I’m Joe, I’m a journalism student at the University of Portsmouth.

I discovered my love of writing when I was 14 and spent a large period of time off school with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and I desperately needed a hobby to keep me from going insane.

It needed to be one that didn’t require too much exertion, so my previous aspirations for performing had to be thrown out. My wonderful English teacher suggested that I write for the school blog, an idea that changed my life.

Once I started, I found it more interesting and exciting than anything else in school.

My interest in writing blog articles coincided with my newfound love of going to the cinema, as it was an enjoyable but not too strenuous way of getting me out of the house.

The combination of seeing so many films and being so keen to write worked well, and I spent a lot of time writing reviews and discussion pieces based on all the latest content I was watching.

I kept it up, eventually becoming one of the blog’s Head Editors and I realised it was a hobby I was interested in continuing for the rest of my life. I also took on a senior role in running and organising my school’s magazine.

Since then, my love of writing has increased and my trips to the cinema have become more and more frequent.

Passion for Star Wars is a less recent phenomenon, making up 15 years of my life, ever since the moment in 2005 when a four-year-old Joe saw a poster for Revenge of the Sith and decided he wanted nothing more than to learn about those characters and their strange glowing swords.

I’ve found so much joy in writing about and debating the new films, book, comics and shows over the last five years and hope to keep writing about the series forever.

Hopefully, this blog will become full of news, videos and opinion pieces about all my favourite types of media. I hope you have fun hearing what I have to say!
